Why More Couples Are Choosing Midweek Weddings

Saturday is still the most popular wedding day by a long way - but according to Bridebook's 2026 UK Wedding Report, 27% of couples now marry Monday to Thursday, and 17% choose a Friday.

The practical upsides

Midweek weddings often mean more choice when it comes to venues - popular Saturday dates can book up a year or more in advance, while weekday availability tends to open up much closer to the date. Many venues and suppliers also offer better rates for midweek bookings, since demand is lower.

It doesn't have to mean a smaller celebration

A midweek wedding can be just as big a celebration as a weekend one - the day itself doesn't know what day of the week it is. If anything, a slightly more relaxed pace, with less competition for venues, suppliers and accommodation, can make planning easier.

Worth considering if...

If you've got your heart set on a particular venue that's booked solid on Saturdays for the next year or two, a midweek date might be the thing that gets you in sooner - and could free up budget for other parts of the day.
