What Does the Average UK Wedding Look Like in 2026?

Ever wondered how your wedding compares to everyone else's? According to Bridebook's 2026 UK Wedding Report, based on insights from 7,000 couples, here's a snapshot of what a typical UK wedding looks like right now.

The numbers

The average wedding spend currently sits at around £20,600 - though a quarter of couples spend under £10,000, and a quarter spend over £26,000, so there's a huge range either way. The average couple is 34.8 years old, and engagements now typically last under two years, with 68% lasting less than 24 months.

Guests and venues

Most couples have around 74 guests at the ceremony and 80 at the reception, with hotels and barns the two most popular venue types (22% each). Saturday remains by far the most popular day, with 47% of weddings taking place then - though a growing number of couples are choosing weekdays.

When couples get married

August is the most popular month, followed by May and September - so if you're after a peak summer date, it's worth booking well ahead.

What this means for you

There's no "right" way to do any of this - these are just averages, and plenty of couples sit well outside them. But it's useful context if you're wondering whether your plans are "normal". (Spoiler: there's no such thing.)
