Hodsock Priory Wedding Photography

Charlotte and James married at Hodsock Priory, a country house near Blyth in Nottinghamshire with a Tudor Gatehouse dating from the 16th century. The estate is best known for its snowdrop displays each February, when the gardens open to the public and the grounds are covered in white.

The venue

Hodsock Priory's Gatehouse and surrounding gardens give a wedding day a genuine sense of history — the building has stood for over 400 years, and the grounds have been developed over generations. Outside of the February snowdrop season the gardens are quieter, but no less photogenic, with mature trees and structured planting throughout.

Highlights from the day

Covid-19 meant Charlotte and James couldn't have the larger celebration they'd originally planned, so after their ceremony at Hodsock Priory they moved to the nearby Hotel van Dyk for a smaller evening reception. It made for a more intimate day than either of them expected, and no less special for it.

Our approach

With a venue as characterful as Hodsock Priory, our job is mostly to stay out of the way and let the setting do its work. We kept the day relaxed and unobtrusive throughout, working around the smaller guest list to make sure nothing felt rushed despite the change in plans.
